On The Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaw Chiefs (Public FB Page)

At at PDAC (Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada) in Toronto, Nova Scotia’s Premier Tim Houston was giving a speech. “I really wished I recorded it, so that you all could see why i was upset.”

“Premier Tim Houston is a short-sighted man who wields his power just for the sake of it, not having any consideration for the destructive impact of his decisions on ALL of Nova Scotia. It is impossible to properly describe the uncertainty and chaos that Premier Houstons threat of fracking, lithium exploration and mining for other precious minerals will cause for Nova Scotian’s”.

Yes, I took his own words about Trump and replaced it with his name. Ironically, it fits for both leaders.

We was invited to a breakfast this morning at PDAC (Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada) in Toronto. Apparently, we were special guest’s along with Premier Houston, he sat up front (they sat us in the very back behind a big piller and we could bearly see the speakers).

Initially, I wasn’t suppose to be here, but another Chief couldn’t make it. It’s strange how things work out.

Nova Scotia’s Premier Tim Houston was giving a speach. I really wished I recorded it, so that you all could see why i was upset.

He talked about how Nova Scotia was ready for exploration, mining, and fracking precious minerals, lithium, uranium, copper, lead, gold, just to name a few. Not once did he acknowledge the land of Nova Scotia as the Unseeded Territory of the Mi’kmaq.

He talked about how rich Nova Scotian Communities are. I guess we are thriving, just ignore the thousands of homeless and the countless families living in poverty.

He talked about how much of an easier process it will be for those who want to explore mineral extraction throughout the province. I guess he hasn’t meet our Mi’kmaw Warriors.

To me, it just felt like “Nova Scotia was up for sale to the highest bidder”. So come on down into our territory and rape our lands and take our precious natural resources.

I wasn’t suppose to talk or give a speech, but hey, since i was a “special guest”, I took this as an opportunity to tell our truth.

I guess I was expected to sit there and look pretty and agree with everything that was being said, but listening to the Premier of Nova Scotia talk, and then listening to excited prospectors and investors talk, and looking around the room at all the “old Men of Privilege and Wealth”, I knew I had to say something.

“Our Lands are not for Sale”
